Held in partnership with the Mexican Embassy to celebrate Mexico’s National Day, the symposium explores how Mexico inspired a generation of artists, writers and revolutionaries.
Speakers include Australian photographer Grant Mudford, who will speak about works he created in Mexico in the 1970s. Santiago García, Cultural Attaché at the Mexican Embassy, will speak about the flowering of ideas and culture in Mexico after the revolution. Art historian Anthony White will discuss the emergence of modernist art in the post-revolutionary period.
Followed by a tour of the photography exhibition Mexican modernism with curators Shaune Lakin and Annie O’Hehir. 
The event will conclude with a reception at the gallery hosted by the Mexican Embassy, from 5.15 – 6.15pm.
